There are lots of products that I buy and love. (Like the gosh cosmetics primer!) This one is just not one of them. In the style of AllThatGlitters21, I present a series called “I don’t like it!”

The title is pretty self-explanitory, but basically, it’s about a product that I tried and didn’t necessarily like for whatever reason. This one is about from the Physicians Formula: Bamboo Wear line Bambuki!

What really made me realize how much I don’t like this brush is when I was cleaning my brushes tonight! I clean my brushes with baby shampoo, and I LOVE the smell of it, but I noticed that when I was cleaning my bambuki, something smelled like wet dog. And there is no dog in my little apartment! I couldn’t understand where it was coming from, but it finally hit me that it was the brush!! I couldn’t believe it. It’s probably because it’s made out of 100% natural hair, but my MAC 217 is made of goat hair, and that has never, EVER smelled like dog! Maybe this means that they made the bambuki out of dog hair? Who knows. Other than the whole smelling like dog ordeal, it’s incredibly difficult to clean. It feels like every time that I clean it, the bristles get more matted.

The brush itself isn’t overly soft. I had heard from numerous online blogs that kabukis were supposed to be incredibly soft, but had never seen one before, so I never really had anything the bambuki to. At first, I thought it was awesome! It picked up a lot of product, and it looks super cute. HOWEVER, my opinions on this changed dramatically when I went to the mall last weekend and was introduced to the Too Faced kabuki! Oh my gosh. It was just sitting on the shelf not in any packaging, and I’m pretty sure it belonged to the makeup counter, like it wasn’t on the shelf anywhere, but it was THE softest brush I have ever felt in my whole. Life.

From then on, my bambuki has been pretty much dead to me. It’s scratchy, and it just isn’t that good, I wouldn’t waste my 13 dollars on it. In the meantime, I bought an ecotools “bronzer brush” which seems to work in the same fashion as a kabuki. I’ve been using it instead of my bambuki for using setting powder… It’s soft, but it has a really huge handle, which is weird to me. ANYWAYS. I think the next high-end brush I invest in will have to be the too faced kabuki. I wish I had like, asked the makeup counter lady about it. Maybe she would have let me keep it. Or maybe not, haha!

xx,

The best part about today was the fact that I got up at 9:00 AM to a snowstorm outside. At first, I was really, really angry because Alexa and I are in the same class, and I knew she was going to make me go to class. When we were ready, we left around 10:10 to walk to class. Let me just tell you; it was a LOT snowier than we expected outside!!After walking most of the way to school, complaining about how soaked we were getting, complaining about how cold it was, complaining that our hair was getting wet, relizing that we were going to be late for class (which the professor HATES), Alexa finally turned to me and said “Is my eye makeup running down my face?” “Umm, yeah. Is mine?” “Yes… Let’s go home.”

Definitely one of my favorite moments of the week. The fact that our makeup was getting ruined was enough to make us turn around and go home! Also, on top of ALREADY being late for class, we would have to go to the washroom, wash our faces off, get to class… it was just a mess. So we headed home, put on some trackpants and made waffles for breakfast! Yummy!

A few minutes ago, I was shopping around for makeup online looking for items to add to my wish list (I have a physical wish list done up with price comparisons and everything!), when I had to itch my nose. When I did, I realized that even after walking for ten minutes with snow on my face, sitting around being lazy all day watching TV, resting my face on my hands, my foundation was miraculously STILL on my face! That’s when I realized that I really needed to put it out there to the world just how great this new product that I have is!

At the begining of November, I had to go to Shoppers Drug Mart to get some acne medication for a really bad breakout. I had to wait 20 minutes, so I decided to shop around. I found this great Primer, Gosh Cosmetics Velvet Touch! I have to say that it’s probably one of my favorite products that I own. It’s very lightweight and I wear it over my moisturizer and under my foundation. It really does deliver a “velvety” touch to it, my skin feels very soft and smooth! It definitely helps to keep your makeup on ALL DAY LONG, even through a snowstorm and a lazy day! It was one of the more expensive products I’ve purchased, I’m pretty sure I got it for around 23 dollars at Shopper’s Drug Mart, but I’ve heard that it’s comparable to Smashbox Photo finish, which I’ve heard is a really great primer. I don’t really have anything to compare it to, but I do know that it has great staying power, and feels great on your skin!

Anyways, I just wanted to share that. It’s time to cook myself some supper and clean my room, I’m heading home for the weekend! I can’t wait to see my puppy tomorrow!

xx,

so BEDM went well, hey? Yeah.. I’m going to have all of the normal Internet excuses about being away. I’ve been busy, whatever.
Here are some of the things that happened since my last blong on May Fifth!

MY BIRTHDAY! I turned 19 on May 6th, which was really fun! On the day of my birthday, I got my dad to drop off the car to me at around 10:00 ish, and then Brandon came over, since he had to work that night! He brought me Cupcakes, each with their own design. (I’ll put a picture up later, I took one on my mom’s camera.) We went out for lunch at Pizza Delight, and it was wonderful. I bought two Pac Man scratch tickets, and got Id’d for them! I didn’t win anything, though. That night, I went to Don Cherry’s with my family for supper, and got to have my electric popsicle and birthday Crepe, which was AWESOME. I picked brandon up after he got off work, and we went to my house for presents (my parents gave me a dress that I picked out, as well as a Crock Pot for cooking next year! Brandon gave me the Hills Season on DVD, as well as my cupcakes, and a balloon!)And a cupcake cake from Sobeys. However, we all agreed that it wasn’t as good as the cupcakes that I make, and it certainly wasn’t as good as the cupcakes that Brandon made me. The next day, I went out for dinner with a few of my friends, which was fun. I went out with Kayla to some bars afterwards!

I got a job! Since I turned 19, that meant that they were allowed to hire me at Bacalao at the Inn! Definitely one of the highlights on my birthday!! I’ve really enjoyed working there so far – everybody is super friendly and fun to work with. It also doesn’t hurt that the food is awesome! (Oh yeah… tips are good too. haha!)

I made a lot of cupcakes. With all of my daytimes free at home, I made lots of treats. Cupcakes. Muffins. Cookies… yeah, all that good stuff.

I haven’t found a house yet! Yeah…. I still haven’t found a house. But Alexa and I have been looking like crazy to try to find one, however nothing has worked out as of yet… so if you know somewhere that we can live, let me know. That’d be AWESOME.

I got ANOTHER job at Ability Employment! I really like it so far, it’s a really rewarding experience. I love planning things and interacting with people, so it’s a perfect job for me! The people I work with are great, as well as the people who come to the centre – they always say something to put a smile on my face, even when I’m having a terrible day!

I almost Resigned from my restaurant job. It was getting too much for me to handle working 5 days a week, 8:30am until 9 or 10pm. However, Jonathan asked if I’d rather work one day a week – any day I wanted! That sounded great to me, and I really didn’t want to QUIT the job, so I told him that I’d love to do that! I was really happy about that.

Anyways, life is great for me right now! I’m going to TRY to write more blogs. I’m not going to guarantee that I will.. but I’ll try.

Today was my first of three days babysitting, which inspired me to do another “Through the Years” blog. Whenever I get around children, I get reminiscent.

So Kindergarten.. This is where things start to get sort of mish-mashy in my mind, because to be honest, I don’t really remember much about CERTAIN years of my life, I just remember events, and not really how old I was.

I do remember, however, that this was the year that my Uncle Danny got married, and I got to be the flower girl. I was really excited about this since my friend Meagan got to be a flower girl in her Aunt Cindy’s wedding, and I saw her pretty dress, and the video of the wedding, and being the control freak that I’ve always been, I was naturally jealous that she got to be a princess for a day and I didn’t. This is also the time that I discovered elevators, which you can read about in my post, Elevators.

One really random memory of kindergarten was about this girl who ended up failing a grade and was a year behind me for most of school, but she was in the afternoon class of the same kindergarten class as me. My class of about 30 students was broken up into a morning session and an afternoon session – half the kids would come for the morning, then the other half would come for the afternoon, and then switch each month. Well, when I wasn’t around, there was this girl who used to sit in my seat, because she was in the opposite class. She wasn’t very nice and one day when both sessions were together for a session, she took my chair, and I had nowhere to sit!! It was for health day, and each kid had to bring in a healthy fruit or vegetable. I was cucumber, which I thought was hilarious, because my dad hates cucumber. I don’t know why I found this funny, I just did.

Something else that happened in kindergarten : KINDERGARTEN GRADUATION! obviously. I didn’t have a huge part other than a little reading part that went “boats, planes, trucks, a rocket ship, a bus and a submarine!” The theme of our graduation was transportation. It was cute, but my dad had to miss it because of the chicken pox!

Which leads me to something else that happened in kindergarten – the chicken pox. I don’t really remember much about actually HAVING the chicken pox other than I woke up in the morning thinking I had a bunch of pimples all over my body, and immediately started picking them off! I showed my mom and she told me to stop scratching at them, and that I would have to stay home. she made me take an aveeno bath, which I wasn’t pleased about to begin with, but while I was in the bath, I missed Sailor Moon, which was my favorite show at the time. I even had a MASSIVE purple sailor moon bookbag. Appearantly that was the year of purple and sailor moon. My pop winter came to look after me when I had the chicken pox, claiming that he had already had them before (when he never!) so that he could come look after me, and he told me a joke that went like “do you want to buy a chicken? here! take my chicken pox!” or something like that. I thought it was hilarious at the time! I ended up passing the chicken pox on to my dad, my brother, and my pop! I felt really bad about it.

I also had a “boyfriend” in kindergarten named Zachary. I don’t remember how it came to be, but I’m pretty sure it went something like him telling me I was his girlfriend, so automatically we were “boyfriend and girlfriend”. We even went on a “date” to the mall with his mom and his sister selling girl guide cookies, and we made a fort with the empty boxes. His mom told me she was going to trade him for me, because his sister had lots of barbies I could play with. I thought that would be fun, haha! But alas, our “relationship” automatically ended with the last day of school. Like all great relationships do, of course!

I think grade one is going to be a much more interesting post!

xx,

Today was probably the first day of all the days that I’ve been home that I wasn’t completely bored out of my tree! I got up at 8:00 this morning and got a shower to get ready for the memorial service at the school. Thankfully, while I was in the shower, my dad called the dentist and was able to get me an appointment first thing in the morning before the service! I found out that I have a tooth infection, so the dentist prescribed me some antibiotics and i was on my way.

I went to pick Kayla up for the memorial service when I was finished at the dentist. I wasn’t as close with Denika as many of the people at the memorial today, but I’m glad that I got the chance to work with her. There were so many people at the memorial that were touched by her life today, it was overwhelming. The service was absolutely beautiful. It’s amazing how such a large, versatile community can come together at a time like this, and it really showed through the service. Sometimes, teenagers can be harsh. High school is full of silly drama, but everybody saw through that, and supported each other through such a rough time. Rest in peace, Denika. You are certainly loved and missed.

After the service, I went to get my prescription filled, at which point I landed a babysitting job for the week! Cheers to having something to do this week! When I got home, I took a nap, my grandparents came for a visit, I went out to supper with my family and Brandon came over! We didn’t do much of anything tonight, because of the fact that my tooth is still aching, but I’m hoping to make some cupcakes in the near future…. I’ll take pictures!

Off to bed for another night on the couch. Yay for toothaches!

xx,

As you may or may not remember from yesterday’s post, I have been fighting a losing battle with my second-to-last molar tooth on the top right side of my mouth. However, I somehow remembered that I’m supposed to be writing a blog for every day in may, so I got my brother to fetch my laptop for me, since I’ve decided not to move from the toothache bed my mom constructed for me. (Thanks mom! =) It’s right now that I’m RIDICULOUSLY thankful that I’m no longer in st. john’s, and my parents are here to take care of me. I have no idea what kind of state I would be in if this happened to me in residence.)

I’ve never EVER had a toothache before, and anybody who has ever had a bad toothache before knows that a toothache is almost (but not quite) comparable to kidney stones or giving birth. Quite honestly, this is the absolute worst pain that I have ever been in. I don’t even think it hurt this much when I fell and sprained my knee, or when I sprained my wrist after chasing my friend around at a dance in the seventh grade. I’m not even sure if it’s the actual PAIN that makes it worse rather than the panic I’m feeling knowing that I have NO IDEA when I’m going to be able to see a dentist, or when he’s going to get to fix it to make it stop hurting! I’m cursing the healthcare system right now that they don’t have a dentist on call at the ER… I realize that it’s probably a stretch for me to wish such a thing, because a toothache is certainly NOT a life or death situation, but it really feels like it at the moment. I’m tempted to take some pliers and just haul it out like they did in the old days – but I know that THAT would probably not do me any good, not to mention how much pain I would be in if I pulled out my tooth. ha.

Thankfully, my parents know how bad it is to have a toothache, so my dad searched up a home remedy in order to try to ease my pain. He took an ice cube and rubbed it between my forefinger and thumb. I don’t know if it was the placebo effect, or if there was some kind of science behind it, but after about three minutes of ice on my skin, I was hardly concentrating on my throbbing tooth! It was like a brain freeze for my hand!

Anyways, I’m going to go and try to get some rest, but I wanted to keep my promise of blogging EVERY DAY. =) It’s a goal.

Fingers crossed that I get to see the dentist tomorrow!

xx,

So I didn’t even hear about BEDA (blog every day in april) until probably the 6th of april, and by that time, I had papers due, I had to do finals, I had to move out of residence… the whole deal!
So I’ve decided to do BEDM! May is my birth month, I turn nineteen years old in five short days! This leads me to loads of new opportunities such as cigarettes, lotto tickets, beer, credit cards.. pretty much anything that makes you go into debt, they just spring it all on you at once. (just kidding about all those things, ps. although I’m totally buying a lotto ticket, just because I’d LOVE TO HAVE MY OWN CAR and see lady gaga in Montreal. )

Today was pretty uneventful. I was in bed most of the day with the most killer toothache EVER, no idea what was causing it, but for some strange reason it went away after I got a bath…

Brandon started his job today, so I didn’t get to see him, but he’s coming over tomorrow!

I had donnini’s with my brother and Shane for supper, which is always AWESOME. I love donnini’s! Then Joshua went to Stacey’s, and I was home alone with the after effects of a toothache, so I took a nap, watched the lovely bones, and talked to Brandon on the phone about how his first day at work was!

So yeah.. that’s my day in a nutshell. Kind of boring, but I guess I’ll be seeing you all every day for the next month!

xx,

Most of this post was written on friday, and I don’t really want to go back and change it all, so here it is!

I’m feeling sick today, so I thought that today would be a good day to skip the makeup to let my skin rest. I had to get up early this morning because I had a job interview at 10:00 AM, and my parents needed me to drive them to work so that I could have the car for my interview. However, the weather was really bad, so school ended up getting canceled until third period, so my dad was able to bring me to my interview. Between the time that my dad woke me up at 6:45 and went back to sleep until 9:00, I had a really strange dream that my mom was the old lunch lady and she and my dad had divorced. She lived in a trailer ever since I went to university, and my brother didn’t even exist. I came in one day to my “mom” and the “gardener” just standing in the porch, waiting for me to come in. It was REALLY REALLY strange!

Anyways, I got up pretty early this morning to get ready for that. I did a bit of makeup (basically what I did for the Don Cherry’s interview),just so that I looked presentable, but I washed it off as soon as I got home. I feel so exhausted, and I’ve been getting up early a LOT lately. So after I got home today, I cleaned up the kitchen, cleaned up my room, and then watched the hills all day long.

As you may or may not know, I’m unofficially moved out of residence for good! I have a couple things that I need to go back and get, but for the most part I am done done done with residence, which is both a good thing and a bad thing at the same time, I suppose. I was so excited for residence before I first moved there. One day while I was walking through the square one bright, sunny day I realized why. You know when you see the pictures of residence where it’s a beautiful day, people are out on the lawn playing guitar, everyone is multi-cultural, everybody is best friends?

You know, the pictures that look like this:

And everybody is best friends, like this: NO. That doesn’t happen.
Okay, okay. yes, it does happen, but I do NOT EVER remember any of the houses looking as pretty as they do on the website, and I certainly don’t remember seeing people out lying on the ground studying and playing guitar with their best friends from eight different nationalities, each wearing a different house shirt.

I had a good year with my friends, and making new friends but I really don’t think that residence was really what I envisioned it as. There are very few people that you will talk to that are like “oh yeah! I’m best friends with every single person in my house!” I mean yes, there are SOME, but nobody gets along with EVERYBODY in their house, the way that they do in Hogwarts.

I think in the back of my mind, I sort of envisioned myself in a house where everybody was together all the time, everybody was best friends, there was no drama, everybody did their homework at the same time so that everybody could get help… etc.

Obviously, I was in some sort of naive dream land called Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, because that’s not really what it was like at all.Although now that I think about it, I think I would have been even worse off at Hogwarts, they share a room with SEVEN other people. There would be nights where I would get so annoyed with the amount of my stuff and my roommate’s stuff all over the floor that I would just drop EVERYTHING and clean up right away. Don’t get me wrong, I loved living with my roommate (lubsyah, Kayla!) , and I wouldn’t want to live with anybody else, but living in residence to me was sort of like living in the mall. Yes, your friends are all there and everything is super convenient, but there’s nowhere that you can go that’s YOUR space, you know?

Nevertheless, I’m really glad that I spent this year in residence. I met a lot of people that I wouldn’t have met otherwise, and I’ve strengthened relationships with people that I probably would have drifted apart from. I had a lot of good learning experiences on how to get along with other people and how to make the best of any situation, it being good or bad. I also think that it was a really good way to transition myself into living away from home. I have a lot of good memories in residence, and it did make me really sad to move out, but at the same time, I have some not-so-good experiences that I’m going to be glad to move away from (ie; sharing a bathroom and random ketchup on my door.)

SO, as promised, I’m going to do a room tour of my residence room. I’ve never ever put pictures up of my room before, not even on Facebook, so this is its debut! This was right before I started taking everything down to pack away to bring home, so I guess I’m going to have to do an updated room tour, after I paint my room this summer. Really, there’s not that much to see. It’s pretty small, but I enjoyed making my half my own. On many occasions I told Kayla that living in our room was sort of like living in a camper – your bed is also your sofa, and it’s comfortable enough, but it gets a little frustrating when everything has to have an exact place to function as an everyday workspace. Seriously, we had a very strict routine to each day – which is good, I guess, but just strange. For example, we had to open the window and turn the fan on EVERY NIGHT, even in the middle of January! Anyways, we had a good year together, so here is just a glimpse of how we lived!

This was the view from the door. The side with all the colors is mine! Kayla was gone for the weekend, so I didn’t take pictures of her side… although it looks pretty much the same as mine. We both had those Christmas lights – I’m pretty sure we put up our lights and started listening to Christmas songs RIGHT after Halloween.

This is my desk/vanity/nightstand/dinner table/coffee table. I LOVED the colorful bins that Kayla picked up for me at dollarama! It’s sorted from top to bottom: Electrical cords and school stuff, misc. things that I didn’t have a place for, makeup that I use sometimes and then makeup that I use every day. Apparently I didn’t have my 88 shimmer palette in this picture, because if I did it would have been right under my hairbrush (it didn’t fit in the bins!) I felt quite clever when I found a way to plug ALL of my appliances in at the same time and still somewhat hide the cords.

Books, DVDs, Picture Board (which doubles as a cupboard door – all my dishes are behind it!), and other various decorative things!

My closet! Kayla and I had the novel idea of putting curtains accross the closet in order to make it look more presentable.

Another view of my bed. I love the poster of NYC.

So yeah! that’s pretty much it… as you can tell it’s kinda small, but we had an eventful year. Lots of memories, it was fun. =) I don’t regret it.

Unfortunately, unlike many people, I am two exams away from officially being finished my first year of university, so I better go keep studying, but I just wanted to post this entry!

xx,

Hey guys!
So exams start next week, and since I was home for a while this week, I decided it would be a good time to get myself out there and find a job for summer! I had already applied for a job that I hadn’t heard from yet, so I decided to cut my losses (I really wanted that job!) and start searching for a waitress job somewhere. I handed out resumes at Pizza Delight, Irving,
Baccalo, and Don Cherries.

The actual handing-out of resumes didn’t seem OVERLY promising, although I did have this one guy interview me on the spot, and he said that he would give me a call back on April 20th, which is when I told him that I was finished my exams. He was super nice, too! However, I returned home with not too much hope of a call from anywhere, as I though I had already found where I was going to work.

Not even an hour later, I had a call back from the head manager at Don Cherries asking for an interview! I was PUMPED, if I had a choice, THAT was where I wanted to work. He asked me to come back for an interview the next day at 3:00.

So anyways, the interview went well, I’m pretty sure. He said that he would call me back in 7-10 days to let me know about the job! Not only that, but I got a call yesterday morning about the office job that I originally applied for! I have an interview at 10:00 Friday morning, so wish me luck! AND if all of that doesn’t work out, the guy from Baccalo is calling me on the 20th ,AND I guess if NONE of it works out, then I’ll just resort to working at sobeys for a couple months and go back to CARA for the summer. Although I’d really love to work at CARA for the summer. I LOVED working there last summer. However, I’m a student and loans need to be paid.

ANYHOW, the inspiration for this blog comes from my interview yesterday! It was a gorgeous, sunny day and I wanted to look both professional, yet friendly at the same time. I decided that it would be best to go for a golden-neutral color. Although I love to use fun, bright colors and bold liners, I also like to look presentable and I like to impress when it comes to job interviews, and I just didn’t see this as a time to wear green or blue or purple or any of those fun colors. I loved how this look came out in the end, so I really wanted to share it with you guys!

I used the top three shadows for the main colors of this look. The lightest one is whatI used for my lid color, I used the middle color for the outer corner of my lid and the darkest color for the crease

I then added this bronze-y color to the outer half of my crease, just to add alittle more color.

I used this white color with a pink undertone for the highlight color.

Inspired by the bright, sunshiney day outside, I decided to put just a little of this bright yellow over my lid color!

since I wanted it to look sophistocated and not bold, I used a anabelle khol liner for my waterline and my upper lash line. This is Coffee.

I finished it off with cover girl last blast length. I like to use NON water proof mascara just because it comes off easier at night. Also, don’t forget to use an eye base to keep your look on all day! I like Mavala’s eye base, but I’ve also heard that foundation works fine? Not sure, I’ve never tried it.
The following are the final product!

Tell me what you guys think! also, if you have any ideas/suggestions/requests, i’d be totally open to that!
